Sticker Showdown (“the bot”, “we”, “us”) is a game on Discord that turns pictures you share into collectible battle cards. This policy explains what information the bot keeps about you, why, who else sees it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. It covers the bot only. Our website has its own privacy policy.
The short version
- We keep your Discord ID, the pictures you print and your game progress. We don’t get your email address (unless you email us), password, payment details, IP address or private messages.
- Your cards are seen by the other members of the Discord server you play in. Nothing you upload is shown in other servers.
- An AI (Anthropic’s Claude) only sees a picture when someone spends an AI token on it.
- If a card shows you, press π© Report β π This is me and it is hidden straight away.
- You can delete your data at any time with βοΈ Settings β ποΈ Delete my data or
/delete_my_data. - Questions or requests: support@max1makes.com.
1. Who we are
The bot is run by Zachary Maxwell, an individual based in the United Kingdom, trading as Max1makes. He is the data controller for the information described here.
Contact: support@max1makes.com Β· Website: https://max1makes.com
2. What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Your Discord user ID, and the IDs of the servers, channels and messages the bot uses (including the message each picture you print came from) | Discord | To run the game, link cards to their owner, and remove a picture everywhere it was shown if it is taken down |
| That you accepted the rules, and when | You, when you press β Agree | To show you agreed to the Terms |
| How far you are through the first-time tutorial (or that you skipped it) | Gameplay | To show the next tip only once |
| Pictures you print (a copy of the picture, plus a cryptographic hash and a “fingerprint” of it) | You, when you print a card. This can be a picture from someone else’s message, if you print it with Apps β Print as Card | To make your card, use it in the game, stop duplicates, and stop removed pictures being uploaded again |
| Card details: name, moves, stats, rarity, names you typed, text the AI wrote, and enemy text written for the picture | The game, you, or the AI | Gameplay. The picture and its enemy text can be used as an enemy in that server’s Campaign and Dungeons |
| Game progress: Card Tokens, AI Tokens, manual rename tokens, XP, level, leaderboard and Campaign stats, Dungeon records, tournament entries and wins, your favourite and guard cards, binder slots and themes, your card style (Premium), the Always Auto Name setting, and how many cards you printed each day | Gameplay | Gameplay, and to apply the daily print limit |
| Badges you earn in a server, the Act Bosses you helped beat, and the “server first” cards you printed | Gameplay | To show your badges in your binder and announce them in that server |
| Purchases: whether you hold Premium or π Patron (or a free trial or gift: when it ends and who gave it), what you bought (AI tokens, rename tokens, binder slots, binder themes, gifts not yet given) and Discord’s reference number for each purchase | Discord’s purchase system | To give you what you paid for, exactly once |
| Supporter status: whether your Premium or Patron is active, when it started or ended, and whether a welcome message is waiting for you | Discord’s purchase system | To send you one private welcome message when Premium or Patron starts (or “welcome back” after a break), and not again on renewals |
| π Patron extras: how long you have been a Patron in total, and whether you chose to be listed in β Help | You and the game | For your Patron badge and the opt-in listing (section 5) |
| Custom enemies (server admins only): the pictures you upload as your server’s enemies, their names and text, and that you confirmed the rule about photos of real people, with the time | You | To run your server’s custom enemies and show that the rule was agreed |
| Server settings (server admins only): your server’s look and enemy choices, and who last saved them | You | To keep your server’s choices |
| Reports you make, and reports about content you uploaded | You and other players | Keeping the game safe |
| Server logs (errors, purchases credited, renames, data deletions, safety events), identified by Discord ID | The bot | Fixing problems and investigating abuse |
| Emails you send us | You | To answer you |
What we don’t collect: we never see your payment details (Discord handles all payments), password, IP address or private messages. The bot reads messages only in its own Sticker Showdown channels and messages that mention it, to find pictures you want to print and to answer you; it doesn’t store the text of those messages. To print a picture you posted a moment ago, it briefly remembers in memory (never on disk) which recent messages in those channels had pictures. It also notices when you first type in a Sticker Showdown channel, so it can welcome you once.
Location and hidden details: hidden metadata in photos (such as GPS location and camera details) is removed before any picture is stored. Pictures are stored at a reduced size.
3. Photos of people
Please only print or upload pictures of people who have agreed, and never a photo of someone else to make fun of them. Server admins confirm this rule before adding custom enemies. Anyone can print a picture from someone else’s message with Apps β Print as Card; it goes through the same safety checks, the person who printed it is recorded as its uploader, and it can be reported like any other card.
If a card or enemy shows you, you can have it removed: press π© Report under it and choose “π This is me”. It is hidden straight away and passed to that server’s moderators, who see a small copy of the picture so they can check who is in it. You don’t need to play the game or prove anything else. (To stop misuse, one person can hide at most 5 things this way in 24 hours; further reports still go to the moderators.) If you can’t reach the post on Discord, email support@max1makes.com.
Who sees reports: reports about sexual content, violence, terrorism or child safety are never shown to anyone. The content is removed at once and you are asked to report the original message to Discord. Other reports (such as “this is me”, bullying or copyright) go to the moderators of that server with a small copy of the picture.
4. How we use your information, and our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law we must have a reason (“lawful basis”) for each use:
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Running the game you asked to play: making cards, battles, trading, Campaigns, Dungeons, tournaments, badges, leaderboards, the tutorial | Contract (providing the service you signed up for) |
| Giving you what you bought, telling you about it (the welcome message), and keeping purchase records | Contract, and legal obligation for accounting records |
| Keeping the game safe: scanning uploads, filtering names, handling reports, blocking removed pictures, banning rule-breakers, keeping logs | Legitimate interests (a safe game, especially for young players), and legal obligation where the law requires it (for example the Online Safety Act) |
| Public game posts in your server, such as badges and trade results | Legitimate interests (it’s part of playing together in a server) |
| Showing your Discord username in β Help in every server | Consent: only if you choose it, and you can withdraw it at any time with Hide me in the π Patron panel |
| Reporting serious illegal content to the authorities | Legal obligation, and vital interests where someone is at risk |
We do not sell your data, show you adverts, build profiles of you, or use your pictures or messages to train AI models.
Automated checks: uploads are checked automatically (a nudity model running on our own server, a fingerprint check against removed pictures, and, when an AI token is spent, the AI’s safety check), and names are checked by a word filter. A refused upload is simply not printed. These checks don’t have legal or similarly significant effects on you, but if you think one got it wrong, email support@max1makes.com and a person will look at it.
5. Who can see what
In your server: cards are posted in the Discord servers you play in, where other members can see them, along with your Discord name. The bot also posts some things that mention you in that server, such as badges you unlock (“π @you unlocked⦔), trades, ambushes, tournament results, Premium gifts (naming the giver and the receiver) and leaderboards. The β Premium, π Patron and π Arena Champion roles are visible to the members of servers you play in. Other players in your server can view your binder (never your token balances). A card made from your picture can be traded to or won by another player, and the card’s owner can download it as a sticker file (π² WhatsApp) to use outside Discord. We don’t send anything to WhatsApp ourselves; the sticker file only carries the name “Sticker Showdown”. Your pictures can be used as enemies in that server’s Campaign and Dungeons, and after a card is discarded or deleted its picture can stay in that server’s Quick Print pool for other players (see section 8).
Private to you: your token balances, waiting cards, settings, the tutorial, and the welcome message when your Premium or Patron starts (sent by direct message, or shown privately after your next action if your DMs are closed; it is never posted in a server).
In other servers: nothing you upload or type is shown in other servers. The only exceptions are your β Premium or π Patron role in servers you play in, and, if you are a Patron and choose Show me in Help, your Discord username in β Help and the π Patrons list in every server. That listing is off unless you turn it on, Hide me removes it at once, and it ends when your Patron subscription ends.
6. Who we share it with
- Discord runs the platform. Everything the bot shows is sent through Discord, and Discord handles all payments. Discord is responsible for its own use of your data under its privacy policy.
- Anthropic (our processor) provides the AI, Claude. Only when someone spends an AI token (π€ Auto Name, π€ Auto Name moves, or the Always Auto Name setting; or a server admin’s π€ Auto Name for a custom enemy), we send Anthropic a smaller copy of that picture (a JPEG at most 768 pixels across) and short instructions. For new move names the instructions include the card’s name and rarity. We never send your Discord ID, username or anything else about you. Claude sends back the card’s text and a safety rating. A picture is sent again only if someone spends another AI token on it. Cards named by their owner are never sent to Anthropic, and enemies reuse text that was already written, so a picture is never sent just because it appears as an enemy. Anthropic processes this under its commercial terms and data processing addendum, doesn’t use it to train its models, and keeps it only for a limited time (longer only if needed to investigate a breach of its usage policies).
- DigitalOcean (our processor) hosts the bot on a server in London, with the game’s data on encrypted storage and backups.
- Other players and server moderators, as described in sections 3 and 5.
- Law enforcement and child-protection bodies (such as the Internet Watch Foundation, the National Crime Agency or the police) when the law requires it or it’s necessary to protect a child or someone at risk.
Emails to support@max1makes.com are read and answered by Zachary Maxwell himself and kept in his email account.
7. International transfers
The game’s data is stored in the UK. Anthropic processes AI requests mainly in the United States, and Discord operates worldwide. Where data leaves the UK we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the UKβUS data bridge, as set out in those companies’ terms.
8. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Your cards and pictures | Until you delete them, a moderator removes them, you use Delete my data, or the server removes the bot. When a card is discarded, sacrificed or deleted, its picture may stay in that server’s Quick Print pool until you (as the uploader) or a server moderator delete it with ποΈ Quick Print pool |
| Everything about a server (cards, pictures, progress, badges, custom enemies, its customisation settings) after the server removes the bot | 30 days, in case the bot is added back, then deleted automatically |
| Game progress, badges, settings, tutorial progress, AI tokens, rename tokens, binder slots | Until you use Delete my data (or the server’s data is deleted) |
| Daily print counts | 7 days |
| Custom enemies | Until an admin removes them, a moderator removes them, the uploader uses Delete my data, or the server’s data is deleted |
| Patron time and listing, supporter status | Until you use Delete my data. Your Help listing ends when Patron ends |
| Purchase records (your Discord ID and Discord’s reference for each purchase) | 6 years, then deleted automatically, so a purchase is never credited twice and for our accounts. Records of binder themes, which you keep for good, are kept while the game runs so they are never lost or credited twice |
| Free Premium trials and gifts (when they end, and who gave a gift) | Deleted automatically 6 years after they end |
| Fingerprints of removed pictures (the blocklist) | Kept indefinitely. They are one-way fingerprints: the picture can’t be rebuilt from them, and they don’t say who uploaded it |
| Reports and moderation records | Deleted automatically 2 years after the case was closed (or last acted on). A case still open is kept until it is closed |
| Content reported as sexual, violent or illegal | Deleted at once. We keep no copy; the original message stays on Discord, which handles it |
| Bans | If you’re banned, we keep your Discord ID and the ban, so the ban can’t be avoided |
| Server logs | Up to 30 days |
| Backups | Deleted data can remain in our encrypted backups for up to about 5 weeks before it is overwritten |
| Emails to support | 2 years, then deleted |
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you and get a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent (the Patron listing), you can withdraw it at any time.
The quickest way to delete everything is βοΈ Settings β ποΈ Delete my data or /delete_my_data. In every server it removes:
- every card you own, and every picture you uploaded (including cards other players made from your pictures), and edits the bot’s posts that showed them to say they were removed;
- custom enemies you uploaded as a server admin;
- your tokens, XP, levels, leaderboard and Campaign stats, Dungeon records, tournament entries, favourite and guard cards, settings, binder slots, card style and tutorial progress;
- your badges, your badge progress and the Act Bosses you helped beat;
- your daily print counts;
- any free Premium trial or gift time you hold;
- your Patron time and Help listing, and your supporter status.
Some records stay, without your Discord ID: reports you made, past tournament wins, the “server first” cards you printed, the custom enemy rule you confirmed, a server look you saved, Premium gifts you gave to someone else, and the fingerprints of pictures you uploaded (so removed pictures stay blocked). Delete my data does not remove purchase records, moderation records about content you uploaded, or a ban, which are kept for the times in section 8, or messages you posted on Discord yourself.
For anything else, email support@max1makes.com. We may ask you to confirm your Discord account (for example by using a command in the bot). We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
10. Children
You must meet Discord’s minimum age in your country (13 in the UK) to use Discord and this bot. Many players are teenagers, so we design the game for them, following the ICO’s Children’s Code:
- settings that share more are off by default (such as the Patron listing), and nothing you upload or type is shown outside your server;
- we collect only what the game needs, don’t build profiles, don’t show adverts and don’t track you;
- uploads are safety-checked, names are filtered, card text is written to be family-friendly, and reporting is always one tap away;
- random prints (Card Tokens) are never sold, and the exact print odds are always shown in
/odds.
Parents or guardians can contact us at support@max1makes.com to have a child’s data removed.
11. Security
Data is stored on encrypted disks in London, access is limited to the operator, pictures are fetched only from Discord’s own servers, and content reported as sexual, violent or illegal is deleted rather than stored. Nobody running the game looks at a picture reported as harmful.
12. Cookies
The bot runs inside Discord and doesn’t use cookies or similar tracking. Discord’s own cookies are covered by Discord’s policy, and our website’s by its own privacy policy.
13. Changes
We’ll update this page when the bot changes how it uses data, and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be announced in the bot’s #how-to-play channel.
